The Dogecoin (DOGE) cryptocurrency is on the brink of launching a significant core upgrade, Dogecoin Core 1.14.7, aimed at enhancing performance and usability. This update incorporates numerous bug fixes and security enhancements.
Patrick Lodder, a Dogecoin developer, recently hinted at the imminent release of the final phase of the update on X (formerly Twitter). He stated, “entering the final stage of the Dogecoin Core 1.14.7 release plan,” outlining the remaining steps for the upgrade to be finalized.
In a tweet, Inevitable 360, another Dogecoin developer, shared a screenshot of the milestone window for update 1.14.7, indicating a progress of “97% Complete, Dogecoin Core 1.14.7 next update.”
While anticipation builds for the upcoming upgrade with essential bug fixes and security improvements, the community has also been eyeing the 1.21 release, which has been the focus of a major Dogecoin core upgrade for the past three years.
Patrick Lodder, discussing the 1.14.7 upgrade in a Dogecoin forum post, emphasized its purpose to facilitate a smooth transition to the 1.15 version upon its release and to eliminate certain constraints, allowing a sharper focus on more crucial tasks.
The release of Libdogecoin 0.1.3 in early February marked the culmination of a year’s worth of testing and development for the library. It introduced various new features, including contributions from community members, such as Android support.
Looking ahead to 2024, Dogecoin’s core C library, Libdogecoin, aims to broaden its Python and Go language bindings while exploring additional functionalities.
