Billy Markus, one of the co-creators of the original meme cryptocurrency Dogecoin alongside Jackson Palmer in 2013, recently expressed his excitement on X app (formerly known as Twitter) regarding his latest paycheck from the platform, which is distributed as a part of their revenue-sharing program with content creators.
Nevertheless, Markus openly acknowledged that this time around, his X app paycheck was smaller than his previous earnings. On X, he goes by the pseudonym “Shibetoshi Nakamoto” and boasts a substantial following of over 2.1 million users.
The compensation for the creator of DOGE on X app diminishes.
This time, Markus acknowledged that his earnings were approximately one-third of what he received in the previous 14 days. However, he expressed gratitude for the opportunity to make money by simply sharing content on X app, referring to these earnings as “magical bonus money” that he deeply values. He added, “It’s absolutely incredible and astonishing that I receive any payment for my posts on this platform.”
Markus believes that the reason for the reduction in his paycheck is due to a decreasing number of users receiving payments, resulting in his content reaching fewer people, despite having a substantial following of 2.1 million.
Nonetheless, he views it all as a gift. In mid-July, Markus was recognized as the second-highest earner on X, receiving $37,050 in the initial round of payments to creators by the company.
Around a week ago, Markus also shared that during the early days of this app, when it was still known as Twitter and focused on microblogging under Jack Dorsey’s leadership, he used the platform to create Dogecoin, which he humorously described as “Bitcoin in a dog’s skin.”
Elon Musk introduces enhancements aimed at supporting content creators on X app.
Recently, tech mogul and innovator Elon Musk, who owns X app, introduced a series of groundbreaking features aimed at enhancing the platform’s appeal to content creators. Notably, he introduced long-form articles, live video capabilities, and is currently in the testing phase for audio and video call functionalities. These additions promise to increase the app’s usefulness not only for content creators but for all users.
Musk also disclosed his intentions to incorporate sections for dating and job searching within this social media platform, envisioning X as “the everything app” in the future.
Furthermore, he implemented monetization options within the app, allowing creators to share in advertising revenue and providing them with an opportunity to earn through the “Subscription” feature.
