Ethereum-based operating system ethOS has introduced dGEN1, a hardware device designed for blockchain dApp interaction and running a light client. The dGEN1 features a built-in browser, wallet, and a dedicated screen that displays transaction notifications and metadata during network interactions.
Built on LineageOS, an Android fork, ethOS integrates its own Nimbus light client, allowing users to verify data while using blockchain dApps without relying on third-party RPCs. The ethOS browser also supports IPFS and .eth domains.
The dGEN1 device is available for pre-order through the minting of an NFT on the Base Layer 2 network for 0.2 ETH (approximately $520). Shipping is expected to begin by the second quarter of 2025. According to Basescan, around 630 users currently hold these NFTs.
